The wide butterfly plates are designed so that the greater surface area will help to stabilize the jack under your RV and help to avoid penetration into the floor of your unit. The bottom of the unit has a bow-tie base that, much like the butterfly plate on top, will help with stabilization, especially on uneven surfaces.
